How it works
- Follow @follow.tower and you get an apartment automatically. Once a day we check the follower list from our own account's Instagram data download. We do not scrape anything.
- Claim your apartment on this website once, within 7 days of getting it. No claim within 7 days = you are evicted. You can still claim it later if nobody took it.
- Claimed on the website but not following: you have 7 days to follow, then the apartment goes back on the market.
- Unfollowed: you get a 7-day eviction notice (your window turns orange). Follow back within 7 days and you stay. After that you move out.
- Moved out and back within 7 more days: you get the same apartment if nobody took it. Floor 1 (residents #1–#4) is never given to anyone else.
- Furniture is rolled from your handle. Prizes from comments and minigames are a bonus, not a right.
- Rewards in minigames exist only in the game and have no cash value.
- Handles that are offensive, hateful or impersonate someone are not let in and can be hidden at any time. Same for cheating in minigames (scripts, bots).
- We can change, pause or end the game at any time.
Age
You must be 13 or older to sign up. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 signed up, DM us and we delete the apartment the same day. If you are under 18, ask a parent before you tip or buy anything.
Tips and houses
You can tip the tower through [Buy Me a Coffee / Stripe]. A tip is a voluntary gift; you do not buy anything with it. As a thank-you, supporters move into a house in the city around the tower: Cabin for any tip, House from $5, Pool House from $20, Mansion from $50 (tips add up). We build one thing you ask for next to your house (if it is not offensive), your name shines gold and you get a vote on the Tenant Board.
Put your Instagram handle in the tip message. Houses are usually built within 24 hours. Houses have no cash value. If the game ends, tips are not refunded. The payment provider handles payment; we only see your name, amount and message.
"Build me anything" ($10)
You describe a thing and we build it into the game within 3 days. It must be buildable as a game model and must not be sexual, hateful, violent, promote drugs or weapons, or infringe anyone's rights (no logos or characters you don't own). If we cannot build it, we agree on something else or refund you. It is a digital item delivered right away, so it cannot be returned once delivered; if it does not arrive or does not work, DM us and we fix it or refund you.
What data we keep
- Your Instagram handle and when you joined. The handle is public on the site next to your apartment – that is the game.
- A salted hash of your IP address (not the address itself) to limit sign-ups and minigame spam.
- Minigame counts.
- Tip details (name or handle, amount, message) if you support the tower.
- Anonymous visit statistics without cookies: per day we count visits, where they came from (e.g. Instagram), the device type (phone or computer) and steps like opening the claim form. We do not store your IP address; a daily-changing hash only tells us whether a visit is new that day.
- Bug reports and ideas you send: your text, the handle you type (optional), an optional screenshot of the tower, and your floor, open apartment and device type. We use them only to fix the game and delete them once handled.
We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use advertising cookies. Data is stored with our hosting provider [host] for as long as the game runs or until you ask us to delete it.
Your rights
You can ask what data we have about you, correct it or delete it – DM @follow.tower and we delete your apartment and data within one business day. California residents have the right to know, delete and correct personal information and the right not to be discriminated against for using these rights (CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell or share personal information.
